Foundation for Rehabilitation Psychology Student Presentation Award

The Foundation for Rehabilitation Psychology (FRP) sponsors awards recognizing student research at the annual Mid-Winter meeting and other venues. 

DESCRIPTION

The Foundation provides yearly awards for student presentations at the annual Mid-Winter meeting and/or other venues. The number of awards and amounts vary but are typically for the best poster and best oral presentation. Information about awards and procedures for applying for them are described in the annual invitation pages for the Mid-Winter meeting.

Amanda Childs, PhD, is a post-doctoral fellow of Joseph F. Rath, PhD, at the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine. She presented her research project, "MMPI Profiles of Outpatients with Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: What’s the norm?"

2015

Joshua McKeever is a doctoral student of Maria T. Schultheis, PhD, at Drexel University. He presented on his research project, “Prospective Memory Acquisition in Multiple Sclerosis.”

2014

Trey Anderson is a doctoral student of Timothy R. Elliott, PhD, at Texas A&M University. He presented his research project on “Depression Among Persons with Sensory Disabilities in a Rural, Underserved Region.”

2013

Emily M. Lund, MEd, is a doctoral student in Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling at Utah State University. Her research project, “Developing a Contextual Model of Caregiver Burden: Examining Abuse, Depression, and Problem-Solving," was mentored by Timothy R. Ellliot, PhD, at Texas A&M University. 

2012

Sara Martindale, a graduate student at Baylor University, won first place for her poster, “Action and Emotion-focused Coping Styles as a Mediator Between Neuropsychological Functioning and Quality of Life Outcomes in Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF) Veterans.” She was mentored by Sara L. Dolan, PhD (Baylor University) and Sandra B. Morissette, PhD (VA VISN17 Center of Excellence for Research on returning War Veterans).

Laura Coffey won first place for her oral research presentation entitled, “Psychosocial Adjustment to Lower Limb Amputation: The Role of Tenacious Goal Pursuit and Flexible Goal Adjustment.” Her work was supervised by Pamela Gallagher, PhD, Dublin City University, Ireland.
